Representation
Representation
Representation is literally stereotyping individuals or groups by the media either to present them in such a way that is easily recognisable by people, for example trying to show French people in Berets and with typical French food or clothing. Alternatively it could be used to present a certain individual or group in a specific way or manner to influence opinion. This can be done by influencing lighting or showing the specific subject in a certain way. This is obviously shown by the presentation of teenagers in media, with many appearing as rebellious and delinquents of society, wearing dark clothing and covering the face.
Stereotypes- A shortcut to get people to understand what you mean. Can be repeated enough to be considered true in some peoples eyes.
Archetypes- The ultimate stereotype used by people using a combination of stereotypes.
Countertype- A representation that challenges traditional stereotypes of groups, people or places.
There is also the theory of 'The Male Gaze' by Laura Mulvey which suggests that women are placed in media by men for men.

Preliminary Task- Bigger Saw
Preliminary Task- Bigger Saw
Below is the storyboard that we created for our preliminary task, 'Bigger Saw' that we created on the second day of planning for our task. It overlays the basics of what will occur during the opening scene of the supposed movie and where the camera will be placed and at what angle. This will help us on the day of filming to organise how we create our movie and also when we edit so that we have the scenes in the correct order to create the best effect.
Preliminary Task- Music
Preliminary Task- Music
As in typical horror, the music will play a key part in the movie to create a suspense that will be dropped and mocked when funny events occur. Furthermore when a silly or stupid event happens the music will stop almost in disappoint to the scene or the event that is occurring.
The music we chose was from the movie 'Saw' which the preliminary task is primarily based off and that a large portion of the comedy is based off. We chose this because it is considered sinister and is already revered as being associated to a horror movie series that is globally known. This means that when people hear the music they will instantly think of the horror genre and make assumptions about what will happen.
These assumptions will then be broken by comedic scenes that will catch them by surprise and cause them to laugh out of their own mistakes.
Preliminary Task- Logo and Production
Preliminary Task- Logo and Production
This is the film title and logo for our preliminary task movie opening scene. We believe that the logo reflects the genre of the movie well as we used a play of words to catch the attention of our audience. We did this by using the title of a well known movie.
